Origin
A leftover batch of malt, that’s where Dennis Hurkmans and Ezra Leeger saw potential. In 2015 a whiskey was born, a ‘single estate whiskey’. A whiskey in which not only water, but also the raw materials used come from the same farm. No artificial fertilizer or pesticides are used in this process.
Gold
The sustainable whiskey, which has been named ‘Bus Whisky’ since 2019, is entering a market where Dennis already sees 2.5 million whiskey drinkers in the Netherlands, 300.000 of whom are single malt enthusiasts. Bus Whisky has not only gone unnoticed in the Netherlands, it was awarded a sustainability medal at the Global Green Awards in Hong Kong. The gold plaque? That was for Bus Whisky. The story of Bus Whisky will eventually have to cross more borders and with the current technological developments, Dennis thinks he can make this happen quickly.
Sustainable
Before Bus Whisky can make this move, they want to meet the needs of the Dutch market. Due to the enormous demand for and the success of Bus Whisky, the delivery time of a bottle of whisky has increased to approximately half a year. Bus Whisky wants to reduce the CO2 emissions of its employees by providing electric cars. Great plans, but they require money.
Together
Dennis and Ezra saw an opportunity to join forces with everyone who cares about Bus Whisky in order to make the whiskey world a little more beautiful. By means of sharefunding Dennis and Ezra wanted to raise € 575.000 so that all plans could be realized. The sharefunding process started enthusiastically. With the slogan ‘make sure you don’t miss the bus’, the beginning was there to let Bus Whisky remain the sustainable whisky label in the world.
1 million in 24 hours
That bus was certainly not missed in July 2022. No less than 219 investors were allowed to hop on and call themselves co-owners of Bus Whisky. Expectations were exceeded and € 1.000.000 was raised in approximately 24 hours. The trust and passion of Dennis and Ezra has spread beyond the Heische Hoeve. Where there is passion, there are opportunities and for Bus Whisky these opportunities are worldwide.

Sharing is multiplying
Multiplying starts with sharing
There are many entrepreneurs who are not yet aware of the possibility of sharefunding. That’s a shame. Do you know other entrepreneurs with green and sustainable ambitions? Introduce them to sharefunding and share the test. Thank you!
